Germany	6	These charts are essential for safe, legal VFR flight in Europe - where Positive Controlled Airspace may begin as low as FL 100; numerous terminal areas have unusual shapes; and, restricted areas or corridors (like rectangular cross-section heating ducts) permeate the landscape! Grid Altitudes are prominent for each half degree of long- & lat- itude, providing 1,000ft terrain clearance up to 5000ft terrain elevation and 2,000ft terrain clearance above 5,000ft terrain. Bottlang Airfield Manuals, 4th Table below, Supplement these charts & addtl European areas. Complex and/or congested Terminal areas are in additional insets at 1:250,000 scale Insets also cover FIR and MET areas & freqs; GAFOR areas; and provide a cross-section definition of the airspace classification for the nation(s) covered by the charts. Cultural content & selected obstructions are edited (reduced) to avoid clutter yet still retain prominent or useful landmarks. Runway orientation and hard or grass surface is depicted for all airports. Accompanying text describes airport ident (letters), name, elevation in feet and runway length in meters, and ATS/AFIS frequency, if available.. Glider Site, Glider Activity, Ultralight, PAJA and Hangglider symbols depict other aviation activity. General remarks are included for planning, safety and local regulations.
Comm frequencies are tabulated for Terminal areas (apch control freqs by sectors and/or airports); Towers (and ATIS); and Emergency, Guard, Air to Air (like CTAF or MF) for aerodromes without (or past airport hours for) ATS or AFIS.
GPS co-ordinates are tabulated (alphabetically) for VFR reporting points; Aerodromes, and Radio Navaids; and, are charted for heliports.

The verso (backside) of Low and High Altitude Planning Charts have a mileage table of distances between 100 airports and wind & temp aloft forecast locations. Low Alt Plng chrt verso also has Ferminal Forcast locations, EFAS or Flight Watch AFSSs & their networks, METAR WX Rept codes, Surface Ob and Terminal Forecast WX stations, etc. High Alt Plng chrt verso also has Navaids (ident, freq, cls, co-ords, var, elev) - also for Canada Mexico, Bahamas, and airspace restricted areas. These charts have defined the airline standards for IFR flying for over 60 years. Areas are as described for Airport Directorys on page 2 above. The Airway Manuals include Introductory, Notam, Radio Aids, Meteorology, Tables & Codes, ATC, Entry Requirements, Terminal data; and the arrival, approach and departure charts, plus enroute charts. All approved civil IFR approaches are included. Revisions are sent as needed - usually avery two weeks, and replacing superseded charts with new ones. A wide selection of the 7-ring Jepp binders are available from Vinyl notebooks at $9.95 to traditional leather binders at $57.95. Airway Manual Revisions are mailed every two weeks.
CD-ROM Options / JEPPVIEW now makes Airway Manual terminal charts (arrival, approach, airport & departure), Notams, and chart legends available as on-demand printing from your personal computer (Pentium-class, with 16Mb ram, SVGA 10-24x768x256 colors 1Mb ram video card, 17" monitor, 4x CD-ROM drive, 20Mb free on hard drive computer and 600dpi printer with 6Mb ram are recomended). Pre-punched 8.5x11 inch paper is available to print charts 2-UP for Jepp binders. The larger paper Enroute and Area charts are issued and revised as required as part of the JeppView subscription. Subscriptions (an updated CD-ROM every 2 weeks) are available for all area and military terminal coverages above. Cost for JeppView is from 1.2 to 1.5 the paper subscription cost; and for a combination of paper + CD-ROM coverage the cost is 1.75 to 2.0 the paper subscription. The more expensive areas have the lowest ratio, the least expensive areas the highest ratio.

The Express Manual contains all approach and enroute chaarts for the area plus Briefing Bulletins, Intro (with chart format/legend), and Chart Notams. Each Express Manual requires a Binder - most manuals need 1&1/2 or 2 inch rings binder (only the least expensive are manageable with 1 inch rings). Express Manuals are revised every 56 days (same dates as NOS IFR charts) with additional pages when appropriate issued for 28 days later. 6 issues are sent on the 1 yr subscription (covering a period of 336 days). Express Manuals give a new dimension of options to more precisely and economically tailor chart needs for small areas and/or seasonal or changing requirements. .

Q Service overcomes the time-consuming and error-prone manual updating of manual "pull-and-replace" revised pages. Every 2 weeks the revisions are filed (en-mass) behind a numbered Q-Service tab. An Update Index cumulatively lists the updated charts and their tab number to identify and locate an updated chart. After 8 updates a new set of current charts is received and the earlier "starter" set and revisions are discarded. (enough to gag "tree-huggers" so please recycle it). JeppView CD-ROMs are also available for all Q Service coverage above, but only with the paper ccharts. The combo price is is 1.35 to 1.41 times the paper chart coverage. JeppView is not available separately here. CD-ROM Options / JEPPVIEW is available for all US, HP and Internatl Q-services, but only as a Combo package with the paper charts. Combo cost is 1.35 to 1.42 that of paper ccharts for most and least expensive Q-svcs, respectrivel;y.
